Take Time to Stop and Smell...The Daffodils

Winter is over, and spring has new life just bursting at the seams. It is filling my blood with a buzzing sensation to get outdoors and be a part of the beauty that's popping up and blooming, to get my hands in the soft dirt and breathe the fresh air that smells like the rain that'll be here in 10 minutes. I'm also a sucker for all the babies like the new calf skipping in the pasture last week that made me smile as I drove by- we caved today and got two new baby chicks to add to our flock.

What does any of this have to do with stationery?

Well.

These small, everyday joys that are sprinkled throughout our day is where I find inspiration. It's the sweet smell of the sunny daffodils blooming in front of my art studio. I walked past them several times and not noticed. But one evening the light was hitting just right and I ran out with my sketchbook in hand and sank down on the ground to sketch out some silhouettes. A breeze brushed my face and with it, a strong smell of warm honey. I leaned in closer to investigate with a deep inhale. Yep. These mini-suns were wafting a promising smell of sunny weather. I never would have known if I hadn't sat down.

This is what I mean. Our lives are so much richer when we pause for a minute to be fully present.

This is the joy I try to capture on paper to help you sprinkle joy on someone else's day.

Maybe it starts with the note you jot to a friend, and you notice how the sun is hitting the page you're writing on, or you notice the fresh smell from the breeze that blew in through the window and suddenly you feel a sense of well-being just kind of wash over you and everything just comes down a notch.

I only spent 10 minutes with those daffodils but I walked back into the house with a new feeling of peace and joyful energy.

Sprinkle that on someone else's day and you'll find it in yours. It really does only take 10 minutes.

This set is truly like floral confetti

Thank you so much for being a willing participant in spreading joy, encouragement, and mindful connection. That's what I'm about at Sonshine Paperie but its success completely depends on you! If you know someone who would enjoy these seeds of encouragement, would you please forward this to them and invite them to join us in planting? We reap what we sow, so sow like confetti. May's flowers will be here soon.

Joyfully,
Aurie
